Dishdale Privacy Policy
Effective: 26 September 2026
Dishdale is a family meal planner. It plans your week's meals around your budget, store and food rules, and builds your grocery list. This policy says what the app keeps about you, where it goes, and how to delete it.
The short version:
- You don't create an account with an email or password. The app makes an anonymous account for your phone automatically.
- We keep only what the planner needs. That's your household's planning settings, the people you add, your weeks, lists and ratings.
- No ads, no analytics or tracking tools, and we don't sell your data.
- You can export or delete everything from Profile, at any time.
Who we are
Dishdale is run by Siddharthkumar Patel ("we", "us"). Questions about this policy go to support@dishdale.com.
What the app keeps, and why
The app stores everything below on your phone. So that your household and plans survive a restart and stay backed up, it also keeps a copy on our server. The server copy is linked to your phone's anonymous account.
About your household
- Your first name, which you enter during setup. If you skip it, the household is just called "Home". It's used to label you in the app.
- The people you add: a name and whether each is an adult or a kid. Nothing else about them. They're used to show one row per person when rating a meal.
- Where you shop: your country, currency and grocery store. These are used to estimate prices.
- How you plan: which meals you plan (breakfast, dinner), cooking days, the day your week starts, your kitchen appliances, meal moods you picked, and your weekly budget for each meal. There's also a comparison figure the app derives from that budget.
Food rules and allergens. You can tell the app about diet rules (for example vegetarian) and allergens (for example peanut, dairy, gluten) for your household. This is health-related information, so we treat it carefully:
- it is used only to filter which recipes the app will suggest;
- it is never shared with anyone else, used for advertising, or used to profile you.
Your meals and shopping
- Your planned weeks: which recipe is on which day, and your swaps.
- Your grocery lists, including any items you type in yourself, and what you've ticked off.
- What you cooked, and when.
- Ratings: how each person in your household rated a meal (one of four faces).
- Favourites you saved, and taste rules the app learns from your ratings and swaps, so the planner suggests more of what your household likes.
- Usage counts for the free plan (how many weeks you've planned this month).
Your subscription. If you subscribe to Dishdale Pro, we keep:
- which plan you're on;
- whether it's in its free trial;
- when it renews or ends;
- the subscription ID from our payment provider (see "Who else handles your data").
We don't receive your card details or your Apple ID or Google account.
Reminders. If you turn on notifications, the app saves your reminder time on your phone and schedules one weekly reminder to plan your meals, on the morning a new week begins. It's a local notification: your phone schedules it itself. We don't send push notifications, and we don't collect a push token.
What the app does not collect:
- your location;
- your contacts;
- your photos or camera;
- your email address or phone number;
- your advertising identifier.
The app has no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting tools, and it doesn't track you across other apps or websites.
Prices are estimates. The app estimates prices from typical prices for your country and store. It doesn't read shelf prices, receipts or your purchases.
Who else handles your data
We use a small number of service providers. Each one only handles data to provide its service to us.

The app also downloads updated recipe and price lists from our server. Those requests carry nothing about you.
We don't sell or rent your personal information. We don't share it for advertising. We only disclose it where the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as your account exists.
- When you delete your account, your household and everything in it are removed from your phone and our server straight away.
- Backups: database backups, where we keep them, expire within 7 days.
If you delete the app without using Delete account first:
- your phone's copy goes with the app;
- your anonymous account can't be recovered, and we have no way to connect the server copy back to you;
- so please use Profile → Delete account before uninstalling if you want the server copy gone.
Your choices and rights
In the app:
- See and change your data. Everything you've entered is in Preferences and Profile, where you can edit it.
- Export your data. Profile → Export my data gives you a copy of your household, people, plans, lists, ratings and favourites as a file.
- Delete your account. Profile → Delete account permanently deletes your household and everything in it, from your phone and our server. It can't be undone.
- Turn off reminders in Profile, or in your phone's Settings.
Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription. Apple and Google bill subscriptions, so cancel yours in your App Store or Google Play account settings. If you don't, it keeps renewing.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK, or California's CCPA), you may have extra rights: to access, correct, delete or port your data, to object to or restrict how it's used, and to complain to your data protection authority.
- Most of these you can do yourself in the app.
- For anything else, email support@dishdale.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
Where the GDPR applies, we process your data on these legal bases:
- to provide the service you asked for (planning, lists, sync, your subscription);
- with your explicit consent, for the allergen and diet information you choose to give. You can withdraw it by removing it in Preferences.
Children
Dishdale is meant to be set up and used by adults.
- Kids appear in the app only as a name the adult adds, marked "kid", so their meals can be rated.
- We don't knowingly collect information directly from children under 13 (or the minimum age where you live).
- If you think a child has given us information, email support@dishdale.com and we'll delete it.
Security
- Data travels to our server over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
- Access is limited to your own anonymous account: the database only lets an account read and write its own household.
- No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
International transfers
Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States (Amazon Web Services, N. Virginia) and the United States. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for those transfers.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
